A Bit About Me
Ashley Palmer, LCPC, CCTP

Background
Ashley is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland, a Board-Approved Supervisor, children's book author, and an advocate of social awareness and liberation-centered approaches to mental health.

A proud Baltimore City native, Ashley earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and her Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Towson University.
​
Ashley utilizes a liberation focused framework when working with clients, integrating trauma-informed and eclectic approaches to therapy. Her diverse professional background reflects this perspective. She has served as a Fraud Investigator in the banking industry, an advocate and change agent for diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education, and a provider of mental health interventions to those experiencing and perpetuating intimate partner violence and in school based services.
As a former hairstylist and educator, Ashley’s passion for guiding those with afro/coily/curly hair through their journey of embracing their natural beauty played a significant role in shaping her path toward becoming a psychotherapist.

Ashley’s work is an offering of trauma-informed, liberation-rooted mental health care that extends beyond traditional spaces, from private practice to schools, community and corporate settings, and salons. She creates spaces where professionals can reclaim their identities, reach their fullest potential, and thrive. She values increasing client autonomy, insight and awareness, within the systems and spaces in which they live, navigate, and operate.​

As a children's book author her goal is to provide tools for parents, guardians, educators, and therapists that nurture children’s emotional intelligence and social development through intentional storytelling.

Her specialties include: Working with professionals and entrepreneurs navigating leadership, burnout risk, and their identity in those roles, Racial identity development, ‘Minority’ stress, Cultural trauma, Women's issues, Social Anxiety, Major life transitions, and Interpersonal relationship challenges
